Expositions
From July 23 to April 30, 2021
Building on the success of its previous editions, the Village Motel exhibition at the Galerie Blanc is back for its fifth year.
Curated by Alexandre Berthiaume from the design firm, FUTIL, the Village Motel exhibition at Galerie Blanc presents new works by the internationally recognized artists Christto & Andrew (Qatar and Denmark), Genevieve Gaignard (United States), Noah Kalina (United States), Elise Mesner (United States), Maya Fuhr (Canada), and Alexandre Berthiaume (Quebec). These thought-provoking works take a critical look at the codes of popular culture in recent decades. Inspired by the American dream, societal seams, and even drag culture, these seven guest artists use clichés to anchor their works in a here-now that is conscious of its own shortcomings and excesses.
Galerie Blanc, the only 24/7 open-air art gallery in North America, is located on Sainte-Catherine East between Wolfe and Atateken streets.
