The faces of Montreal
Les Visages de Montréal (Quartier latin)
Quartier Latin, infrot of the library Saint-Sulpice
Open in google mapSaturdays from July 31 to September 4, 2021
After a year of lockdown and hidden faces, the faces of SDC Quartier latin's community are symbolically coming together, without masks, through a series of portrait mosaics. Like an open-air exhibition, it takes place on Saint-Denis and Emery streets and features merchants, restaurant owners, residents, employees and regulars of the area! Starting at 1pm, the faces of the Quartier latin will be displayed on Saint-Denis street between Sherbrooke and Ontario for the whole afternoon!
Les Visages de Montréal is a creative appeal for solidarity for Montrealers. Everyone is invited to take part in this collective art work which lines the facades of downtown Montreal with thousands of portraits. This inspiring art work is part of Inside Out, a collaborative project launched by the French artist JR that has travelled to cities all over the world. Les Visages de Montréal puts the spotlight on the faces of Montreal, mobilizing some of the city’s key institutions and the public with an invitation to reclaim the downtown core. Watch for the photo booth truck that will be combing the streets all summer to take part in it yourself!
